Once upon a time, in a far away land, there lived a little girl named Queen Maeve. And what an adorable queen she was! She had rosy cheeks, wavy sandy blonde hair, and blue eyes that sparkled. She completely enchanted those around her. She also had a mind of her own, which could sometimes be problematic.
Her Mum tried giving her bananas, but the little queen said “No!”
Her Mum tried giving her grapes, but the little queen still said, “No!”
Her Mum even tried giving her slices of crispy, red apples, to which the little queen replied “No!” and also stamped her foot.
Desperate to get some nutrition in her willful daughter, Mum turned to the squire for help. It was rumored that his family had a secret recipe for getting picky children to eat their fruits. The squire, however, was called away by the King to go “slay a dragon” (their code word for going to the local tavern for a pint). Before he left, the squire (who was quite fond of Queen Maeve) slipped the castle cook the recipe to make.
And the little queen loved it. Who wouldn’t?
The cook served this up with freshly sliced fruit, but you can serve it over toast, bagels, and muffins.
And since this recipe isn’t really much of a secret, here it is. Enjoy it whenever you like with the royalty in your life. (Happy Birthday Queen Maeve.)
