Hello 2015! I’m not a fan of new year’s resolutions, but this year, I’m finding myself looking at what’s ahead of me and thinking about how I can bring a little more enjoyment into my life. There’s so much to look forward to, and today I’m going to start by enjoying how I got a chance to sleep in a bit and start off the new year with enjoying a breakfast based on this recipe—French Toast—courtesy of my husband and daughter.
Basic Ingredients
- Slices of sourdough bread
- Egg
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon
- Milk
- Butter
They started with the basics: egg, vanilla, cinnamon, along with milk, bread, and butter, to make the basic batter. Once batter was made, they heated up a skillet with some butter, then dredged the bread in the mixture.
Then, they fried the toast in the melted butter over medium high heat, alternating the temperature to maintain the perfect “toasty” color. Note, if you don’t watch carefully, you’ll get burnt black edges and the butter will start smoking.
It couldn’t have been easier for me to watch them. 🙂
Just like that…easy peasy, no-fuss, basic french toast.
